Delivery and receipt of heavy goods
Be warned - cast iron is very heavy and for this reason cast iron radiators are transported on pallets.
To give you a general idea of the weights involved:
To keep your delivery costs to a minimum we use commercial pallet carriers to transport our heavy radiators. Unless you are local to our showroom in Bingley, West Yorkshire, to use a dedicated van specifically manned and insured for domestic timed deliveries, would be prohibitively expensive for most of our customers - however, if you would like us to quote for this please ask.
Our standard service: Someone will need to be at the delivery address on the delivery day to meet the delivery – between 8.30am and 5pm. You will be contacted at least 24 hours in advance to advise which day the truck is in your area. If this is not convenient the delivery can roll over to the next week. For deliveries of the Gothic and Rococo cast iron radiators, you can specify “before noon delivery” on a chosen weekday, but there will be a surcharge for this. If nobody if available to sign for the goods, at the delivery address on the agreed day, then arrangement will be made for re-delivery. Please note that as we subsidize the first delivery charges, the costs of redelivery may exceed the £25 delivery charge originally levied.
The driver will deliver your radiator(s) to the nearest accessible hard standing (pavement or driveway – but not up any steps). The truck will have a tail-gate so the driver can mechanically lower your radiators to the ground. The driver will then use a pallet trolley to transport the goods to the nearest hard standing. Due to Health and Safety legislation, the driver is prohibited from lifting heavy goods himself. The driver is not insured to enter your house.
Access for delivery truck: Delivery will usually be made in a 45 foot truck. If access will be a problem, please let us have an alternative delivery address failing that please call to discuss.
Returning or cancelling radiators - if you wish to return or cancel your radiator for any reason other than visible fault or damage, please refer to the terms of your contract. However, if the right exists to return of cancel your radiator, please do not open the packaging at all as this will mean your radiator cannot be taken back into stock. Restocking fees/administration charges will apply on all goods being returned for any reason other than visible fault or damage. These restocking fees are levied by the relevant manufacturer/supplier and unfortunately are non-negotiable.
Receipt of your radiators: Please unwrap and thoroughly inspect your goods immediately after delivery. Please check against the delivery note to ensure that you have received the appropriate number of brackets, air vents and plugs. If you are not sure what these look like, please call and we can advise. N.B. screws are not included because the appropriate screws will vary depending on the wall surface. Due to the weight of cast iron and the transportation process, in some cases small areas of the radiators may need touching up by the time they reach you. For this reason, touch up paint is included (other than for radiators ordered in primer finish). Save as otherwise set out in your contract, any visible damage or faults, which cannot be rectified using touch up paint, must be reported to us within 3 days of receipt, to enable us to claim a replacement from our supplier, otherwise the goods will be deemed to be acceptable. In the unlikely event that your radiator is damaged or otherwise visibly faulty, please ensure that you retain all the original wrapping. We cannot accept back any radiator once it has been plumbed in, on the grounds of any visible damage/fault or where such radiator does not comply with what was ordered. Please therefore check the goods carefully yourself before getting them installed.
